is the Story of Dawn, but it Could be Yours
By
the time Dawn met Richard, married and had her own children, her physical
structure and posture was a reflection of the story of her life (her personal
mythology) and her health was a reflection of this too.
A number of years later the dreaded happened. Significant aspects of Dawn's
personal and professional life were out of kilter and her health began
to show signs of strain. Signs that we know to be the wisdom of the body
calling out for attention saying 'Hey, you out there, start taking control
and care of things on the inside!'
What was happening on the inside
Dawn's system was awash with a steroid called cortisone. A stress steroid
that's found in the blood. It's released into the blood stream by the
adrenal glands, which also produces adrenaline, the substance that causes
the fight or flight alarm response. The feedback loop that controls this
chemical balance had gone out of balance. Eventually Dawn ended up with
so much cortisone in her system that fluctuations of other bodily chemicals
began to occur. On the 'outside' the evidence of this was that Dawn's
mood and behaviours had become erratic and she eventually ended up in
an emotional black hole.
The reason Dawn got stuck like this is because these negative feelings
became imprinted in her memory (memory is throughout the body at a cellular
level, not just in the brain). When Dawn was at her lowest and on the
verge of taking anti-depressants she happened to come across an article
about the MythoSelf® Process and the philosophy that it presented
with regard to taking pills for stress, anxiety or depression is 'less
is best'.
The MythoSelf® Process
The article explained that within every person is the 'blueprint' for
their best state. A state, or way of being, where a person is absolutely
at their best.
'...It's a way of being that's characterized by your system coming to
rest, your attention on the outside, and a positive frame of mind that's
sorting for 'what's working' rather than being in a problem mode.'
It went on to explain that for many people this way of being isn't consistent,
and for people in an emotional black hole, days like this show up only
once in a blue moon.
Here's the bit that really caught Dawn's attention.
'A person can learn how they access this way of being, so that they can
choose to do it consciously instead of it being left to chance of having
a good day'.
Dawn was excited by the prospect of learning more about her own body and
how she organises herself to be at her best.
Taking positive action
Dawn contacted Kingston based relaxation for health specialists, The 4th
R (reading, 'riting, 'rithmetic, relaxation!) and booked her first lesson.
She chose a private lesson although group trainings were also available.
Licensed and insured MythoSelf® trainer Charles Moore conversationally
set about opening up certain receptors in her body that had become shrunken
and desensitized (an effect of the increased levels of cortisone in her
system). Once her system was "open" and ready to receive new
information, his work could begin.
He led Dawn through exercises that involved her making specific adjustments
to her structure (structure is the physical body - bones, muscles, tissue).
This process of re-educating her 'hardware' has the benefit of balancing
her sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous system without the undesirable
side effects that might be present if she were to have taken beta-blocking
drugs.
The method The 4th R uses...
Recognises your body/mind as a whole and complete system
Recognises that the organisation of your body impacts your thinking and
emotional state
Teaches you the PRE-VERBAL minor muscular adjustments that you make when
you are relaxed/at rest, allowing you to be this way with intention rather
than it being left to chance of having a good day
Physically releases stress & anxiety that you are holding in your
body
Raises your self-awareness giving you the ability to respond to important
signals from your body before crisis occurs.
The rationale behind The 4th R's approach
Dawn later came to discover the rationale behind Charles' approach. The
most efficient and direct way of helping a person 'change' is through
their hardware first.
Otherwise it's like trying to load the latest version of Windows software
onto a PC that simply hasn't got the hardware capability or configuration
to run it. Forcing new software onto hardware that's not configured for
it is futile and the system will keep sending error messages - or crash.
Dawn was given exercises to do between lessons, which she did conscientiously
as she understood that repetition retrains the neurology and builds new
neural pathways.
When Dawn was something that Charles referred to as 'structurally well
formed' he began on a series of exercises to make sure the 'software'
that she was running through her 'hardware' would support the life she
wanted.
A happy ending
Stress and anxiety are a thing of the past for Dawn and her health reflects
this.
You too can learn to be relaxed!
