Revealing the Tao Te Ching
Translation
and Commentary by Hu Xuezhi; Edited by Jesse Lee Parker
There are many English translations of the Tao Te Ching. In fact, it
is one of the most frequently translated works other than the Bible.
This classic dates to 500 B.C. and was attributed to Lao Tzi. While
the original work is relatively short, it presents a conflict of logic
to the western mind, which can be very thought provoking. After all,
The Tao that can be spoken of is not the eternal Tao.

Watchdogs:
Love them or Loathe them?
Love them or loathe them, you can't really argue that our various watchdogs
don't do a necessary job.
You
may argue that the MHRA is on the side of the pharmaceutical
industry, but in recent weeks it has made major strides in the licensing
of herbal health products and this week has caught out TV personality
Gillian McKeith trying to flog rather dubious 'health' products.
The Advertising Standards Authority, meanwhile, finds itself
busier than most in answering complaints about advertising claims made
by the manufacturers of health foods and supplements.
Various bodies are involved in trying to stamp out the iniquitous trade
in rare animal parts, many of which end up in illegal Chinese medicines.
And towering above all are organisations such as Médecins
Sans Frontierès and the WHO who are both concerned
with providing the world's poor with affordable health care.
In this issue of altmedzine we hear from all of these organisations,
and much much more. We hope you will enjoy reading it.
